Replies will generally be spoken as well as displayed (for example, the Synthia console may not even be visible). The spoken version is generally shorter and more concise.
You can control whether Synthia speaks or not via a number of idioms:
speech on, speech off, speech enable, speech disable, enable speech, disable speech, speak up, stop talking, be quiet, etc.
Whether Synthia starts speaking at startup or not can be controlled by that preference in the Synthia section of SynthEyesโs preferences.
The voice synthesizer and particular voices are supplied by your operating system, ie Windows, OS X, or Linux, see the setup directions above.
